What Character.AI is good at, and where it stops.

Character.AI is a miracle for fiction. Worldbuilding. Fanfic. Testing dialogue. Finding the voice of a character who lives two hundred years ago. There is nothing else at that scale that does what it does, and the people building on it are genuinely talented.

The price is that the depth is always on your side of the keyboard. You invented the persona, so the persona cannot actually hold an observation about you. Every conversation starts as someone pretending. If you change bots, the previous bot forgets you existed. That is the nature of the product.
